LANŽHOT – APARTMENTS

BRIEF:

The aim of the project was to completely reconsider the original layout of the apartment floor. The existing solution consisted of several small rooms, an unused dark hallway without daylight, and a pantry blocking natural light. The intention was to create high-quality, bright, and functional apartments meeting current requirements for short-term accommodation.

CONCEPT:

The floor layout was fundamentally opened up. By minimising the hallway and removing the partition between the pantry and corridor, the space was opened towards the balcony, where large windows with full access are designed. Built-in cabinets are integrated into the corridor, serving as cleaning storage and as built-in refrigerators offering local products to guests.

The original small rooms were replaced by two larger apartments of approximately 38 m². Both follow the same principle and are arranged in a mirrored layout. Each apartment includes a compact kitchenette, a living area with a dining table, TV, and sofa bed, and a separate bedroom with sliding doors. Each unit also contains a small fully equipped bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe for luggage and personal belongings. The apartments differ subtly in colour accents – one with a red detail, the other with a green tone and partial glazing between the living area and bedroom.

In the attic, two new apartments are created, building on the uniqueness of the roof space and the use of wood. They are designed in light neutral tones of white and grey and are suitable for families or larger groups of guests.

The duplex apartment makes use of the vertical potential of the space – above the bathroom, a children’s “bunk” is created, with additional sleeping space located in a niche accessed by stairs, beneath which storage areas are concealed. The living area is complemented by a sofa bed and a kitchenette.

The second attic apartment is shaped by the sloping roof, resolved with a new dormer oriented towards the garden. This ensures sufficient daylight and adequate height for the kitchen and bathroom. The sleeping area is designed as open, separated only by a curtain, supporting the airy and informal character of the space.

The overall design unifies the apartments into a functional and welcoming ensemble, offering varied types of accommodation while maintaining a consistent architectural expression.
