HLOUBĚTÍN - FLAT

BRIEF:

The interior of a 3+kk apartment with a floor area of 77.4 m², located in a new residential building in Hloubětín, was designed for a young couple. The apartment is complemented by a front garden and a terrace, extending the living space towards the exterior. The aim of the design was to resolve the shared daytime living area in a high-quality way, provide sufficient storage space, and define the layout of the bedroom, entrance hall, and bathroom.

CONCEPT:

As the apartment was already completed, the design focuses primarily on custom-built furniture and a careful selection of furnishings that give the space a clear structure, legibility, and a distinctive character. The central theme of the interior is the kitchen connected to the living room.

The kitchen is designed along the entire length of one wall of the living space and complemented by an island that extends the work surface and gently separates the kitchen area from the living zone. The island also plays a representative role and functions as a focal element of the room. It is clad with vertical panels of artificial stone in a grey terrazzo finish and complemented by designer lighting and bar seating.

The living room also features a distinctive library unit with an integrated wine cabinet and safe, designed in black-stained veneer combined with a metal structure. This element acts as a counterpoint to the lighter surfaces of the interior and adds depth to the space.

Emphasis is placed on sufficient storage throughout the apartment. In the bedroom, built-in wardrobes partially extend above the bed, creating a cosy niche. The niche includes a shelf with a projector and space for books and small personal items.

The bathroom is designed in a combination of white, grey, and black, with a predominance of light wall tiles to maintain a sense of airiness. The floor is finished in terrazzo; the dominant feature is a vanity cabinet with a black round mirror and concealed black fittings. Given the presence of a separate WC in the entrance area, the bathroom prioritises a larger vanity surface or the addition of a shower enclosure.

In the entrance hall, a built-in wardrobe with a specially configured shoe cabinet tailored to the client’s needs is designed. The kitchen and entrance hall are separated by custom-made sliding furniture doors, which are fitted with a mirror on the hallway side.
