RUSKÁ - FLAT
BRIEF:
The aim of the design was to create a contemporary interior of a 75 m² apartment that respects the character of an almost one-hundred-year-old building while responding to the needs of a young family. The brief included enlarging the living kitchen area, adjusting the layout of a future children’s room, and adding technical facilities and a second WC.
CONCEPT:
The key layout change was relocating the kitchen and living room into a space with direct access to a large balcony. The daytime living zone is thus naturally connected to the exterior, and the apartment is transformed from its original 2+1 layout into a 3+kk arrangement.
The entrance area is formed by a spacious hallway with a long, narrow window characteristic of Libor’s architectural work. This zone features tiled flooring functioning as a cleaning area, complemented by built-in wardrobes, coat hooks, a mirror, and a bench. The hallway therefore serves not only as a circulation space but also as a fully functional storage area.
The children’s room is designed as a flexible space with a minimum of fixed elements, where the only permanent core consists of built-in wardrobes. The living kitchen benefits from the enlarged space created by shifting a partition wall and offers maximum storage capacity through a continuous furniture wall, which also integrates the TV unit and a discreet entrance to the bedroom.
The bedroom is conceived as a calm retreat combined with a walk-in wardrobe and a workspace, concealed behind a wooden partition wall with shelving. In terms of materials, the design works with a combination of white, brick-red accents, and wood veneer, giving the interior warmth and a timeless character.
