ARISTOLOGY – "FREEZE / BURN.."

BRIEF:
The aim was to create a unique gastronomic experience based on the connection between architecture and gastronomy, both on a conceptual level and in a literal sense.

CONCEPT:
From the very beginning, it was clear that the gastronomic experience should be conceived in direct relation to the exterior and its atmosphere.

The fundamental starting point became the elements of fire versus water and the principles and functions associated with them – roasting versus freezing, heat versus cold. The common denominator of these two extremes is the ingredient that reacts to these processes most directly: meat.

The key challenge was to find a solution capable of merging all these opposites into one functional and comprehensible whole, without appearing fragmented or self-purposeful. The answer ultimately became the idea of an outdoor fire as the central element.

The question, however, remained how to approach this seemingly ordinary situation differently – in a way that would give it a new dimension, an overlap into architecture and art, while preserving the lightness, humour and exaggeration that were a fundamental part of the intent from the outset.

The result is a design of a steel structure composed of various removable components. Together, they form a single cohesive object, yet they can also function independently and acquire different meanings and modes of use depending on the situation and context.

The entire structure is demountable to allow for easy handling and transport. The seating elements, clad in a mirrored surface, appear almost invisible – they interfere with the overall composition as little as possible, reflect the light of the fire and at the same time conceal storage space for the attributes needed for roasting.

An integral part of the concept are also the “masks” worn by participants throughout the event. These function both as jewellery and as a functional object – for example, replacing tableware and allowing glasses to be attached, into which drinks are continuously refilled during the evening. The masks thus become an active part of the ritual and the overall experience.
