APARTMENT BARCELONA

BRIEF:

The aim of the project was to design a cohesive apartment interior in Barcelona, including a bedroom, living space with dining area, storage under the staircase, and a rooftop terrace. The brief covered furniture, lighting and storage design, as well as exterior elements such as shading, an outdoor kitchen, seating, and greenery.

CONCEPT:

The design combines simple forms, natural materials, and subtle retro accents that give the interior character and a timeless quality. Individual functions are defined through built-in elements and niches that structure the space without overloading it.

The bedroom is conceived as a calm retreat, centred around a bed with a gentle retro expression. A wooden headboard cladding adds warmth and integrates indirect LED lighting. The layout includes bedside tables with drawers and a simple vanity area with storage, mirror, and a light metal structure for lighting and small hanging elements, which continues above the bed and visually unifies the space.

The living area is structured by a built-in bookcase that also separates a compact workspace. A large niche contains a built-in sofa for relaxation, while a smaller niche under the window functions as a reading corner with shelving. The work surface is integrated into the bookcase and accommodates power supply for work, a turntable, or projection.

The dining area focuses on atmosphere and acoustic comfort. A soft central pendant light calms the space. A solid wood dining table is combined with mixed seating and a simple backless bench, keeping the room visually light. Open shelves allow for the display of art, plants, and small objects that can evolve over time.

The rooftop terrace is conceived as an extension of the living space. Green islands in bent steel planters echo the interior concept. For summer shading, a lightweight steel structure with removable black textile shading is proposed. The terrace includes a large dining table, seating, an outdoor shower, and an exterior kitchen with grill and sink with hot and cold water.

The overall design creates a compact and flexible environment that connects interior and exterior and allows the space to adapt throughout the day.
